Our Story: The Journey Behind IWS
My name is Getenet Tadesse, and I am the founder of Inclusive Workforce Solutions (IWS). My journey to the Netherlands is one of resilience and determination. Originally from Ethiopia, I was forced to flee to Kenya in 2004 due to political persecution, leaving everything behind and starting life from scratch. While living in a refugee camp under UNHCR protection, I pursued studies in healthcare and worked at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) Hospital in Kenya, providing essential medical support to fellow refugees and the local community.
In 2011, my family and I were among 42 refugee families selected for resettlement in the Netherlands. Once again, I had to rebuild my life from the ground up. I dedicated myself to integration by learning the Dutch language and furthering my education. I successfully completed my integration program and obtained qualifications, including a diploma in All-round Entrepreneur Handyman Company and a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Currently, I am pursuing a master’s degree in theology. Through perseverance, I have successfully integrated into Dutch society, gaining professional experience in construction, electrical installation, and infrastructure.
Beyond my career, I have always been dedicated to helping others. For over a decade, I have led a migrant church in Leeuwarden, offering support to asylum seekers and status holders. I have also provided shelter to undocumented migrants and guided newcomers in their integration journey. Additionally, I have collaborated with foundations, assisting refugees with their asylum procedures.
During the COVID-19 outbreak, I volunteered with the Red Cross Friesland, providing support to the elderly, and served as a Migrant Ambassador Advisory Board Member for IOM Netherlands, advising on employment and training programs for migrants.
Through these experiences, I have witnessed the barriers that prevent skilled migrants from successfully integrating into the Dutch workforce. Employers often struggle to navigate cultural differences, while migrants face challenges adapting to workplace expectations. This inspired me to establish Inclusive Workforce Solutions (IWS)—a company that bridges the gap between businesses and skilled migrants.
